Oxford community march against racism
Oxford showed it's best side on Saturday when over 350 joined a Unity March against Racism from Cowley to the Town Centre.
The fantastic XR drummers and the "beautiful drummers" created a carnival atmosphere that had a clear anti racist message through the streets of Oxford. It was heartening to see Muslim families opening their doors and standing on the side of the road with children to clap and wave while others spontaneously joined the march.
Disgracefully Thames Valley Police facilitated fascists gathering at our march assembly point and refused to take action to move them on. The rump of twelve fascists were greatly outnumbered by anti-racists. They represented nothing but the hate promoted by rich racists like Nigel Farage, and rich fascists like Tommy Robinson and Elon Musk, whereas our side represented a genuine community movement with support from over 20 organisations.
A big thanks goes out to all our speakers, and activists across the many organisations who helped make today a success.
The work begins now to build on this success for a major national Unity march at the end of march and a mass campaign to stop Reform UK at the council elections in May.
National SUTR Statement - Labour: Stop echoing Reform UK racism
Shabana Mahmood’s speech today is dangerous and should be condemned. It demonises and dehumanises refugees in an attempt to appease Reform UK and their racism.
It is a shocking sight to see a Labour government remove refugee rights to stay, threaten to take jewellery off asylum seekers and talk about refugees “tearing Britain apart.”
This echoes the rhetoric of the far right, and was welcomed by fascist Tommy Robinson. But we shouldn’t be surprised – it continues the theme Keir Starmer has been speaking about for months, that Britain is “an island of strangers.”
We won’t stop Reform UK by imitating their scapegoating of migrants, Muslim and refugees. We will stop them by building a politics and movement that confronts the far right and says refugees aren’t to blame for the problems in society.
We will stand with refugees and asylum seekers, defend their right to stay and oppose deportations.

With the government stepping up its attack on refugees Stand Up to Racism is proud to support the Coats4Calais winter appeal
Show your solidarity with refugees
The scapegoating of refugees is ramping up with the government planning a series of attacks on their rights and Reform UK and far right protests calling for even more.
Care4Calais operates in Northern France and across the UK, supporting people who are seeking safety. Right now refugee communities desperately need your help.
As you read this the wind is picking up across Northern France. For the men, women and children living in the camps in Calais and Dunkirk the cold is a constant, biting, reality. They face freezing temperatures with little more than the clothes on their backs.
A warm waterproof coat is not a luxury, it's survival. But we are desperately short of winter coats so we are reaching out to you. Your generosity can make an immediate difference.
Can you organise a collection or donation point at your workplace, college or in your community? That winter coat you no longer wear - we want it!
Please email contact@oxfordstanduptoracism.org.uk if you would like to help.

UNITE AGAINST DIVISION
OXFORD SAYS NO TO HATE
FASCISTS NOT WELCOME
Assemble Noon, 20th December, Bonn Square, OX1 1LQ
The "Oxford Patriots" group are again trying to bring hate onto our streets against refugees, and anyone who supports asylum rights, or opposes the genocide in Palestine.
They claim to want to make our communities safe - but their racist marches are making our streets unsafe.
A key member of Oxford Patriots reported that their leader was arrested for racism and harassment at the local refugee accommodation and is currently barred from the area and subject to a curfew to prevent re-offending.
Previously, he disrupted a vigil called in solidarity with Muslims after Oxford Central Mosque was attacked.
When over 20 Oxford community organisations held a 350 strong community rally against racism, Oxford Patriots mobilised to disrupt this genuine community event.
Oxford Patriots cannot mobilise popular community support – instead they are calling on other Patriot groups in the South East, who have been terrorising refugees, to come to Oxford.
The Oxford Patriot leader claims to be seeking support from Nick Tenconi, the fascist leader of UKIP, who has been targetting Muslims with his thugs on "crusades" calling for mass deportations.
Tenconi's attempts to march his "crusade" into Whitechapel saw thousands of local residents block the route of the march forcing the police to ban Tenconi and his thugs from marching there.
Fascism is a real and growing threat. Over 100,000 people, including Oxford Patriots, joined fascist Stephen Yaxley-Lennon's rally in September.
Join the Oxford protest to say no to hate, racism and fascist division being sown on Oxford's streets.
